I think that we have completely lost our minds. I was standing in the grocery store and I overheard a man say to his friend in line, "Oh, shoot. I'll be right back. I forgot to get my mom a Valentine's day card." Somewhere, at a Hallmark building in the marketing department, a little cheer could be heard. (Dad & Regina, I got your email card, I think it was very sweet and I'm still going to rant. Please don't take it personal, it's not directed at you guys haha!)
What could make marketers happier on Valentine's day than convincing you that everyone deserves a valentine's day gift/card? Valentine's day is for romantic love. If you're not in a relationship, like me, you get the day off. It's a perk for being single, ok? So stop. Please. If you have a husband/wife/partner/girlfriend/boyfriend, enjoy the day. It's always one of my favorite days when I'm in a relationship. But don't buy your mom a Valentine's day card. It's kind of creepy ok? That's your dad's job. Mom's got mother's day already.
And making little kids give valentine's day candy to each other in kindergarten? That's just wrong. Everyone knows girls have cooties!
