Roger Ailes. A Man With a Mission

Howard Kurtz does a write-up about Roger Ailes, the head of Fox News.  The article is pretty flattering of Mr. Ailes, but two quotes popped out at me...
Ailes keeps a wary eye on anchor Shepard Smith, who occasionally backs aspects of the Obama record: “Every once in a while Shep Smith gets out there where the buses don’t run and we have a friendly talk.”
So the one some would view as lending some balance to the network, needs a friendly talk when he starts to go too far left.  What happened to the fair and balanced?  Ailes answers that question earlier in the article:
Ailes has a blunt rejoinder to those who say he runs a biased outfit: “Every other network has given all their shows to liberals. We are the balance.”
Get it now?  If you rely on Fox primarily for your news, you are not getting balanced information.  Fox is counting on you to get equal amounts of more left-leaning news to stay balanced.  If you don't?  Well, that explains a lot about where politics has gone.
