...And in This Corner...

An excellent description of my position from Jon Stewart. I'd embed the videos here, but there's three parts because much of this was edited out of the broadcast. It's a good discussion. The only thing I disagree with Stewart about is I think that the attorneys who wrote the memos need some punishment. Prosecution? Nah. But I'd like to see them stripped of their ability to practice law. In my view, lawyers have a professional obligation to fully represent the law. Lawyers with this important of a task, should take it very seriously. They didn't. And they didn't because they were providing cover for something that had already begun.

As for who they were providing cover for? That was a complete overstepping of their authority in my view. I don't think we're going to be locking up Cheney and Bush but I'd sure like to see them convicted for the history books so that if any future president of ANY party gets any fancy ideas, he/she will know that there will be consequences.
