As usual, when my posts slow down, I'm either extremely busy or sick. In this case, it's both. I got a flu on Sunday night. I managed to limp into school this morning to take my final, but I think I bombed it. It was hard and my brain is just fuzzy mush right now. I got my extra credit assignment turned in last night (another feat considering I was under the influence of Niquil) but with those points, I should still be able to get an A in the class as long as my Final is a D or higher. Hell, at this point, if I get a B I just don't give a shit. I'm just ecstatic that school is over for a few months.
I'm in my final week at Beezwax so I'm both making my new boss happy and continuing to piss off the old one. There isn't much I can do about it at this point. My schedule is so packed between now and June 13 that I can't even see straight. I'm desperately trying to muster the "feel good enough" to get up and start trying to pack the bike up. I've got to know what fits and what doesn't. I can tell you that I will be prepared to spend the night in the wilderness if I need to. I've got just about everything survival gear related. It's amazing how small they make some of this stuff. Most of it fits in a single 5x9 mesh bag. I've even got a couple small bottles of Vodka. It's used for antiseptic and just plain pain relief if needed.
Oh, speaking of the bike. I got it back from the shop and it runs AWESOME. It's like a new bike. Way peppier than when I dropped it off and much quieter with a smoother idle. Even the throttle lashing is gone. The final bill was $630 but it seems that it was well worth it. I'm going to write them a letter to tell them how happy I am with it.
For the trip, I was contemplating getting a helmet cam (and mounting it to the bike). But I solved that problem in an even better way. I bought a mount for my HD camera that connects to the same mounting system all my other gear is mounted with (called the RAM Mount system). So now I can shoot some HD footage of the road while I ride it. Hopefully it won't make everyone puke.
By Saturday the 8th, I need to be in a place where I can take a short, local ride with the bike fully loaded so I can see what problems might be there and how the gear is all working out. I do not want to discover something while I'm on the road.
That's all for now. I'll continue to post more in the days leading up to the trip.
