Well, I made my final reservation today for the trip. I had been holding out for the way up because I was still deciding on a route. I decided to head north along the coast the whole way to Portland then 5 up to near Tacoma where I'll head back out to the coast for a loop around Olympic National Park.
All told, here are the trip estimates:
Total mileage: 3,688 (I know this will be higher)
Total est. Fuel cost: $277 (gotta love motorcycles)
Total est. Lodging cost: $2,270 (over $1,400 of which is Banff and Jasper alone) and that doesn't include the retreat which was $1,100 more.
So grand total the trip will cost me roughly $3,647. It seems high and it is, but because this trip represents so many firsts for me I wanted to splurge a bit. It's the first time I've taken any vacation lasting three weeks, the first time I've been on my bike for so many days, the first time I've ever been to Canada, first time I've ever met Neale Donald Walsh, first time I've been alone for this long. The list goes on and on.
My next trip on the bike, I may try to do it on the cheap just to see how that works. Possibly work in some camping, etc.
I've been saving my money. This is one of the reasons I've been doing so.
