The New Job

I haven't posted much about my new job and I think I should. I'm really enjoying it. It's been quite a while since I was in the kind of working relationship I have with my boss. Here's my equation for happiness at work: Boss respects me + boss has lots of power/money = boss takes good care of me, rewards my good work (which makes me want to do more of it) which equals more respect from him. Rinse and repeat.

I have quite a task ahead of me when I return from Canada. This presents me with lots of opportunities to succeed, streamline, become more integral to the operation and more indispensable. The whole thing is wrapped up in awesomeness. I also greatly enjoy working with my coworkers. I have a nice office that I share with with a guy who works for me. He and I really hit it off good so it's enjoyable to go into the office each day. Probably the only downside is the evening commute home which is pretty dreadful thanks to 580 east through Pleasanton. My car is on electric most of that distance so I get great gas mileage, but it takes me forever to get through there and leaving early doesn't seem to help unless by early, we mean 1 or 2 pm and even that isn't early enough on Fridays. When I get back from Canada, I'll probably settle into a work from home on Tuesday and Friday routine which will help.
