Suspension is Dialed In

Who says blogging is a waste of time? My friend Tony read about my suspension/luggage problem on my blog and wrote me an email suggesting that I have the bike looked at by Evolution Suspension in San Jose. I made an appointment and took it in fully loaded on Saturday morning. Although they didn't do anything I couldn't, they transferred their knowledge to me and gave me some advice for my pre-load settings. Once we cranked down the preload to the maximum and made an adjustment to the damping with a screwdriver, the ride is much better. It's good to know that when I get to Canada and shed some of the weight off the bike that I can dial it back because the loaded setting is full on so there is nothing to memorize.

Oh and if there's any doubt that the bike still has horsepower to spare, I was sitting at a light on Mission Blvd between 680 and 880. The final light before the freeway onramp. It turned green and this brand new Porsche 911 next to me guns it. I decided to see if I could keep up (we were about to get on the freeway so it's not like we were street racing), so I let her rip. I think he was surprised that I never left his side the entire time. So even with 90 lbs of gear on the back and my fat ass on the front, I still kept up with a new 911. Not too shabby for an 800lb motorcycle. Anyone who says sport tourers aren't fast enough needs to seriously have their head examined.
